A weekend trip ALONE to the incredible N-Y-C!
Darren and I first took a weekend away in 2018… and when I say away I mean plane flights, hotels, no responsibilities away, and at that time in the midst of our trip we looked at ourselves and flat out said “why can’t we do more of this”? Having kids and careers and not having a family support system close by makes it very difficult for us to carve out the incredibly important alone time. Sure we get time to ourselves here and there but it is a very different “alone time” when you are intentional about it and make plans to arrange extended child care and get the heck out of dodge.
As we kissed our littles good-bye we were giddy and made our way to the airport for our red-eye flight. I always love the anticipation of what adventures are to come as you start any sort of vacation and the memories that are about to be made.
NYC definitely didn’t fail us and we had an incredible couple of days. Incredible quality time with each other, family and friends, urban hiking throughout the entire city, music, food, arts and the list goes on. We planned a few events throughout the couple days, however, allowed the city to guide us for the majority of the time. Here is a little snapshot of our trip:
