LIFE IN BARBADOS- Week 5: Speightstown and the Changing Seas

Week 5: Speightstown and the Changing Seas

This week we prepare for the nationwide “pause” and head out to dinner at The Beach House in Holetown the Friday night before things shut down on the island. Great food, great service, great social distancing protocols and amazing views.

We then headed out for a weekend adventure to Speightstown which has quickly become one of our favorite local spots and a quick 20 minute drive from where we are living. We explore the 2nd largest city in Barbados discovering murals, cultural history, PRC bakery, Quench juice bar, Orange Street Grocer Cafe, and so much more. Of course we jumped in the water, and the kids explored snorkeling as well after a 2 year hiatus.

We also experienced the changing Seas of Barbados ranging from calm glass like water one day to life taking, pier destroying waters the next day. A little public service announcement: Enjoy the beautiful waters safely.

BONUS- Excerpts from Preston’s house tour with his uncle Derrick and his thoughts on Daddy’s work.
